Cats are a species native to the planet Earth, and were domesticated and used as house pets. However, around the year 5000 A.D., they became extinct for an unknown reason. They have been seen in several episodes, which usually involved some sort of time travel or dimensional shift involving the Pocket Universe species. They were used by the Pocket universe species to lure Rommie to a quiet area of the ship and move her to an alternate universe.
