The word maru in Japanese is a suffix for ship names, and Yurika is a common female Japanese name. It actually surprised me to see the name rendered as "Eureka Maru;" I'd always assumed that she had been given a Japanese name, Yureka-maru, much like the Kobayashi-maru of Star Trek. Yeah, the show had a lot of related content from cultures all over the world...just look at the names of the Than, whose names are haikus, or any name of a Nietzschean, who have names drawn from every mythology from all over the world. Also, I think that the relation of Yurika isn't related to the name, but its just a coincidence because in the special features of the DVD they mention that it was named after Archimedes famous exclamation. But, its still interesting. Acaeton 13:06, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
